Loïs Dols de Jong

Before switching to directing, Loïs Dols de Jong starred as the lead actress in the feature film Life in One Day (Mark de Cloe, 2009). She then received an honorary bachelor’s degree in clinical neuropsychology at the University of Amsterdam. While she had always been a storyteller, it was only after university that she realized how essential stories are to people and why she needed to pursue them.

We need to escape the limitations of reality. We need to imagine ourselves with superpowers. We need to feel like the hero. Or sometimes even the villain.

Loïs wants her films to fuel the imagination while raising questions about human nature. She aspires to master the art of tension and suspense.

Loïs’s film El Muerto was shown and went on to win our Marbella Showcase in October 2019. She is currently working to finalise her script for her first feature Hotel Polski which will go into pre-production soon with the support of That Film Festival.
