The Festival

In no uncertain terms we are offering the PRIZE OF A LIFETIME for aspiring writers and directors: a feature or TV series with a budget of up to £1,000,000 (including professional advice and expertise which would otherwise be nigh on impossible to access at this level).

To be in with a chance of winning this prize all you have to do is submit your short film or pilot episode (up to 20 minutes in length) to our Berlin Showcase. If you are successful in your submission, your short will be screened in front of industry professionals, including investors and buyers. You will also be able to network and attend our Q&A's, workshops and other events (not all film related we promise!)

This competition is about uncovering and encouraging talent; the short films or pilot episode you submit won’t necessarily be the one you go on to develop into a full feature or series if you win (although you are more than welcome to do this if you so wish!) What we are interested in is your vision.

Please note that we do not accept unsolicited material and any screenplays received will be returned unopened. Please also note that this competition, and the prize, are for writers and directors ONLY.

Our Model

Four showcases held quarterly throughout the year in Berlin, Cannes, London and Marbella respectively.

The centrepiece of each showcase is (of course) the short films and mini-series content that has been selected. We also provide networking opportunities, Q&A sessions and other events.

Our panel of industry experts and investors selects up to five winners from each showcase, who then go on to compete in our season finale for the grand prize.

These twenty finalists will be given the same script from which to make their final short.

As in each showcase, our panel of industry professionals and investors view all of the films and cast their vote accordingly.

The overall winner will be announced at our Awards Party in London, February 2020.

Production budget of up to £1,000,000, including: marketing and social media management (for up to 1 year) and International Sales and distribution support to help get your film in front of buyers.

The winner will also be the focus of a 9-part, uncensored documentary series following their journey through casting, filming, post production, as well as participating in international markets, in a behind the scenes look at what it’s really like to be a director.

Our Judges

Our judges are all independent business professionals with outstanding backgrounds in production, marketing, distribution and the Film & TV industries generally. They hail from all over the world, representing a diverse range of backgrounds.

Our Workshops
